Autobiography
Brittany Tierra Searight was born on October 31, 1990 in the city of Niagara Falls, NY, USA. She is a mother, author, real estate developer, musician, and highly skilled law enforcement professional with more than 10 years of experience. These experiences range from active, directed and random patrols, to investigations, analyses such as Crime Intelligence, and Tactical and Strategic Crime Analysis. Throughout her career, Brittany has taken an Intelligence-led Policing approach to crime prevention.
Ms. Searight attended local schools, graduating from Niagara Falls High School in 2009. Further educational achievements include an Associate of Science degree in Criminal Justice, followed by a second Associate of Science degree in Economic Crime Investigation. Both degrees obtained through SUNY Niagara. Searight also earned through Niagara University a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology & Criminal Justice, a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Leadership and Policy with a concentration in Neurolaw from the same institution. Ms. Searight is a current member of Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in Education.
In 2014, Brittany T. Searight began her law enforcement career with the City of Niagara Falls’ Police Department. She furthered her career with the City of Atlanta Police Department in 2018, where she served in the Field Operations Division, the Criminal Investigations Division, and assisted at the Herbert T, Jenkins Police Academy with reality-based training exercises and scenarios for the Atlanta Proactive Enforcement and Interdiction Unit (APEX), the Emergency Response Team (ERT), Recruits, and Officers in need of remedial training. In 2022, Ms. Searight returned home to serve as a Special Police Sergeant with New York State, before serving in her current position as Deputy Sheriff with the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office. Ms. Searight serves in the Road Patrol Division, assigned to the Niagara County Department of Social Services, City of Niagara Falls site. Brittany T. Searight holds the distinction of being the first African American female Deputy Sheriff in Niagara County.
Ms. Searight is an Independent Scholar, where she uses a Mixed-Methods approach in criminological research to investigate crime issues and examine solutions based on research findings. Ms. Searight served as a Hate Crime Researcher from 2022-2023 for the Foundation for Inter-Ethnic Restoration, based out of Atlanta, Georgia, where her research contributed to the awareness of Hate Crimes in the region, which lead to organizational policy reform.
While serving as a Police Officer for several years, Ms. Searight financially educated herself and began to invest in real estate. Real Estate has been paramount in Searight’s family tracing back to the 1800’s. Understanding the value of generational wealth and having a heart to enhance the quality of life in communities, Ms. Searight continued in the family legacy by establishing several companies to purchase, redevelop and manage real estate, which include Good Right Management, LLC, established in 2015.
Brittany T. Searight is the author of “How To Manage Your Real Estate Portfolio” published in 2018. “How To Manage Your Real Estate Portfolio” is a guide to the inquiring investor and/or property management company. The book outlines several steps of managerial and accounting practices. Software and mindset tips are given to make property management less stressful and to ensure a smoothly functioning business. In 2024, Ms. Searight created “The Searight Model of Success and Personal Accountability”, a model which outlines several practices to maintain order and discipline throughout the day.
Lastly, Ms. Searight is a skilled musician of percussion instruments. For more than 10 years she functioned as a drummer in the Buffalo - Niagara Region, where she played for a local church during ministerial services and community outings. Ms. Searight has also taught new musicians the foundations of drumming along with reading music and playing by ear.
In conclusion, Law Enforcement, real estate investing, music, research, writing and teaching others, have been great passions of Ms. Searight. She remains optimistic of what the future holds with regards to the contributions of her skillset to society.
